Philippines, October 2021

We are happy to announce a new collaborative partner in Asia, Project Propel, for our latest large-scale effort, which will provide clean drinking water to rural poor and indigenous communities in the Philippines. Project Propel, together with builders from each community is constructing EcoToilets, an all-in-one WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) station that includes a sustainable Clivus Multrum composting toilet, a rain-water collection system, hand-washing station, safe drinking water filter, and solar lighting. This system provides a safe, effective and environmentally sustainable way to decrease the prevalence of food and water-borne diseases (FWBDs).

The distribution of 2000 Sawyer water filtration systems and 2 EcoToilet WASH stations to indigenous communities in the Philippines started in March 2022. This will provide safe drinking water for up to 15,000 people for over 10 years along with education regarding sanitary hygienic practices.

Samburu region in Kenya, February 2021

These funds went toward the spring distribution of 2000+ filters in the Samburu region of Kenya, which are providing safe drinking water for 12,250 people, of that 7,327 kids. This will eventually amount to over 2 billion gallons of safe clean water over ten years. Yemen, March 2019

Saving Children In Yemen from Cholera with Clean Water

In January 2019 we reached our ultimate goal of $13,000, which made it possible for us to procure and deploy 700 cutting-edge Sawyer Water Filtration Systems in Yemen (plus, the cost of shipping and logistics involved in getting the product thousands of miles away to Yemen!). The deployment and distribution of the filtration systems will amount to tens of millions of litters of clean drinking water over the life of the filtration systems, which will in turn literally save scores of children’s lives from cholera, and improve the health and well-being of their families and communities. Up to 4000 people will benefit from this initative. We are proud that RipplAffect was the first organization to deploy this type of water filtration systems into Yemen; a country which has been ravaged by war and armed violence for many months and which is considered the most devastating complex humanitarian crisis in the world, surpassing even that in Syria.

What a joy to see our dream of saving children come to life!
