Philippines Project – Raising $50,000 for people in need of clean water

We have been encouraged and motivated by the success of our project in Kenya, where we invested $100,000 ($50,000 of which was a match by Sawyer Foundation). This effort, with the local support of the Samburu Girls Foundation has delivered 2000 water filtration systems to communities in need in the Samburu region of Kenya (click for video). In addition, even with the unprecedented circumstances of a global pandemic, we were able to provide 1000 water filtration systems in Guatemala, 200 in Peru and just recently 400 to earthquake-affected communities in Haiti. None of this would have been possible without you, our supporters and donors.

ProjectPropel-LogoWe are happy to announce a new collaborative partner in Asia, Project Propel, for our latest large-scale effort, which will provide clean drinking water to rural poor and indigenous communities in the Philippines.

Project Propel, together with builders from each community is constructing EcoToilets, an all-in-one WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) station that includes a sustainable Clivus Multrum composting toilet, a rain-water collection system, hand-washing station, safe drinking water filter, and solar lighting. This system provides a safe, effective and environmentally sustainable way to decrease the prevalence of food and water-borne diseases (FWBDs).

Our plan is to deliver 2000 Sawyer water filtration systems and sponsor 2 EcoToilet WASH stations to indigenous communities in the Philippines. This will provide safe drinking water for up to 15,000 people for over 10 years along with education regarding sanitary hygienic practices.

Therefore, our goal is to raise $50,000 by November 30. We have $10,000 pledged so far and feel confident that with your help, our target will be reached.

We will continue to use Sawyer International as the supplier for the water filtration systems. With funds raised, Project Propel will be able to distribute and provide training on the use of the water filtration systems, conduct health & hygiene seminars in the local dialect, and construct the 2 EcoToilet WASH stations.

“Donating money to charity doesn’t often solve poverty. It typically can only help in the short term. What I like about RipplAffect is that they are solving long term health issues that can lead families OUT of poverty. This is my favorite kind of charity to support, and I have added it to my annual giving plans.”
